With so many SEO firms out there, choosing an SEO company can seem like a very daunting task. We have put together some key tips for hiring a good seo company.
Do Your Own SEO Research.
Before you start researching companies, you really should have a basic understanding of SEO. This makes it much easier when hiring an SEO company because you have knowledge on your side. SEO scams will stick out and if SEO companies can tell that you have background on the subject, they will be less likely to try to sell you SEO services you don't need. Don't leave it up to the seo company to teach you everything about SEO.
What Keywords Do They Rank For?
A good SEO company should have a website that shows up in Google for targeted keywords. We show up in Google for local keywords we optimized for to drive traffic to our site. You should not expect a company to show up for "SEO" or "Search Engine Optimization". Those keywords are very competitive. Just because they do not show up for those types of keyword does not mean they are not a good SEO company, but they should rank in search engines for some keywords.
Ask for References.
Any ethical SEO company will have clients that are happy with their results. This is one of the most important step when choosing an SEO company. If an SEO company can't give you the name of at least one happy client to talk to, then they probably haven't had any. Avoid hiring an SEO company that has no references.
Do They Have Contact Information?
Make sure that the SEO company has legit contact information on their site including email, address and phone number. If this information is left off from their website, then stear clear.
Get on a Monthly SEO Campaign.
A good SEO company will offer monthly SEO campaigns. Google is constantly changing their algorithm which can effect your SEO rankings. SEO should be an ongoing process done by an SEO company that stays current on SEO trends.
Do They Offer Monthly Reporting and Rank Checks?
After your SEO campaign has been kicked off, you should be sure that you are able to receive monthly rank checks and other web analytic reporting. Visitor and keyword data will help you measure the results of hiring an SEO company.
Don't Cheap Out.
You get what you pay for. If you expect an SEO company to build you hundreds of links and get you top ten position for your target keywords, you need to be willing to pay for it. Get price quotes from multiple companies, but don't look to hire the SEO firm with the lowest bid. If a bid seems too low, it probably means that the SEO firm won't do much to optimize you site. You'll end up paying more to hire another SEO company to do it right.
